Important Questions to Ask Before You Hire a Nassau Count Roofer
Perhaps your roof has unexpectedly sprung a leak, maybe a few shingles have blown off in a storm, or perhaps your gutters are filled with granules from your shingles; whatever the case may be, if you’re in need of a roofer, you want to be certain that you choose the most reliable contractor. It isn’t hard to find a roofer in Nassau County; just do a quick search for “roof repair near me” or “roofers near me” and there’s no doubt that you’ll find a long list of companies. After visiting the websites of a few roofers who have piqued your attention, give them a call and ask a few questions.
Here are a few examples of some important questions to ask, the answers to which will help you determine which roofer will best suit your specific needs.
Are you licensed and insured?
In order to perform services in Nassau County, a roofing company needs to be licensed and insured. Roof repair and installation is a complex process and needs to be done properly. Licensing ensures that a roofer has received the training that’s necessary to correctly detect and correct any roofing problems that you may be having. Insurance protects you, the client, from any potential issues that may arise while a roofer is working on your Harbor Hills, NY home; for example, if the roofer damages your property or slips, falls, and sustains an injury, instead of having to pay for the related costs yourself, the roof service’s insurer will cover them.
Ask any roofing companies near you that you’re considering hiring if they’re licensed and insured and if they can provide you with proof. Any reputable contractor will happily share this information with you. Be sure to confirm that both are valid.
Will you bring a container for refuse?
As your roof is repaired or replaced, the materials, such as old shingles, underlayment, and flashing, will need to be placed in a bin. A reputable Nassau County roofing company will supply the container and will haul it away when they’re finished. Before you hire a roofer, however, don’t just assume that they’ll supply the bin and will remove the waste from your Harbor Hills, NY property, because not all companies do. Be sure to ask beforehand, otherwise, you could end up in a pickle and may end up having to rent a container yourself, which will only add to the cost of the project.
How long have you been in business?
Though a new roofing company could certainly provide quality results, if you want peace of mind, it’s better to hire a company that’s been around for a while. Properly repairing and installing roofing materials requires a lot of skill and expertise. The longer a roofer has been in business, the more experience they’ll have, which translates to more skill and expertise and better results.
Do you offer a warranty?
Even the most credible and experienced roofing contractor can make mistakes; for instance, they could unknowingly use faulty materials or make a mistake while they’re repairing your roof. That’s why a warranty is so important. In the event that something does go wrong and your roof fails, as long as it’s backed by a warranty, the roofing company will make the necessary repairs free of charge. It’s important to note, however, that warranties do vary, so in addition to asking if a Nassau County roof service offers a warranty, find out what the warranty entails, including what it will cover and what it entails.

Harbor Hills is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located on the Great Neck Peninsula within the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 575 at the 2010 census.
In 1956, the Town of North Hempstead approved the construction of the community’s swimming pool and its bathhouses, and approved of the creation of the Harbor Hills Park District, which was created specifically for the community’s new park complex project. The contract was awarded to Great Neck-based Schumacher & Forelle, which bid $169,500 (1956 USD) for the pool’s construction, and promised to do the work in 110 days. The project was paid for by the hamlet’s roughly 175 residents.
The community’s pool would be reconstructed between 1986 and 1989, and again was paid for by the hamlet’s residents. This controversial project led to a lawsuit filed by residents over the payments and unexpected rises in taxes, which the Harbor Hills Civic Association charged were due to North Hempstead overpaying, expanding the project, and failing to properly communicate with or notify the locals.
The Harbor Hills CDP was first created for the 2000 United States Census.
